We are often shocked by the resilience of a dog who wants to live. A dog that wasn’t supposed to be standing up, wasn’t just standing up – it was fighting to survive.
To say rescuers were shocked to see him would be an understatement. He is a walking skeleton. Sick, hungry, covered in bedding – El Salvador awaits a miracle. But…he still has hope. He still has a heart.
Rescuers put down food for him to eat, then grabbed him from the middle of the road and wrapped him in a blanket because he was too weak to touch. His bones stick out in pain.
Salvador was taken back to the rescue center, where he underwent a full assessment and a delicate bath. He was severely malnourished and anemic. The road ahead for El Salvador is long and rough, but this dog is already a warrior. His rescuers knew he would keep fighting!
He craved food and started to gain weight. Despite how different he looked, his new friends accepted him. In fact, they lifted his spirits.
They showed him love and acceptance. His new friends are determined to stay by his side and fight alongside him.
Steadily, Salvador began to recover.. He got stronger. He now realizes that there will be food every day. He no longer has to worry about the next meal.
