The rescued dog had just been dumped from a moving vehicle in Ohio when shelter staff first saw Savey. But the heartbroken dog chased the car even after she was abandoned – hoping the driver would give her a second chance. But the vehicle continued to drive, according to the Brown County Humane Society Dog Shelter. When Savey ended up at the shelter, the adorable dog was understandably shocked and frustrated, blog.theanimalrescuesite wrote.
But Savi, dubbed “the good girl” by his caregivers, is about to discover that life’s hardships occasionally offer a glimmer of hope. The dog’s heartbreaking story took an unexpected turn when shelter staff posted on Facebook about their recent arrival.
Rescuers believed the dog was sad and depressed because of the abandonment, which was partly true. But there was another reason for Savey’s melancholy. The heartbroken pup was also missing for more than a year, according to rescuers.
The details only came to light when shelter staff began posting about Savey on Facebook. “Do you know me?” the shelter worker asked, explaining how the dog was thrown from a new green sedan with Kentucky license plates. As it turns out, someone does know the sad dog. According to the person on the other end of the phone, Savi was his dog — she had been missing for over a year.
“If you don’t believe in miracles. Maybe you should…” the shelter staff wrote in a Facebook post detailing the heartwarming transformation. “Savi has always been a good girl here, but [was] understandably shocked and frustrated. Today, after her original owner saw our post on FB. He stormed the shelter.”
According to rescuers, Savi’s owner correctly described the scars and birthmarks of his long-lost dog. When Savey finally meets her beloved, any lingering doubts about the dog’s ownership dissipate – and jump into his arms gleefully.
