The Perez family of Raymondville, Texas, is struggling to get their dog back after the city’s animal control department adopted him into another family, ilovemydogsouch wrote.
The week before Thanksgiving, Snowflake, who they rescued from the Texas floods in June, got loose and ran away. The family searched for hours to no avail.
He ended up a the city’s animal control, which adopted him into another family and then allegedly gave the Perez family a chance to claim him.
Snowflakes’ father, Hector Perez, tearfully explained to KRGV how much his family misses their beloved dog.
Perez said the shelter admitted they made a mistake and told Perez Snowflake’s new adoptive family did not want to give him back.
Despite his best efforts, even speaking to the Raymondville police chief, the Perez family still hasn’t returned with a snowflake.
Worst of all, Snowflake’s new family lives nearby, Perez said.
“If you whistle, I can hear him barking,” he told KRGV. “He belongs to us, he is part of our family.”
Lawyers for the city are currently investigating the incident, and Perez is studying his options. Perez hopes to have Snowflake back with his family by Christmas.
