People all over the world have been shocked and saddened by the escalating conflict in Ukraine, which is taking place amid a Russian invasion.
Despite this, people have found inspiration in the people of Ukraine’s inspiring stories of resistance. One particularly touching video depicts Ukrainian soldiers adopting a sweet stray dog as their guardian.
In the midst of all the chaos and fighting, the viral video shows an unexpectedly sweet scene: a group of soldiers stationed to defend Ukraine introduce their newest recruit, a puppy named “Rambo.”
After spotting Rambo on the street, the soldiers took him in. “We sympathized with him. “It was bitterly cold outside,” the soldiers say in the video. “He stayed with us after we took him into our post.”
Despite the fact that the tiny dog doesn’t appear to be much of a soldier, the troop claims that their new friend has been assisting them and acting as their “protector.”
A soldier explains, “He is our watchdog.” “If there’s a stranger nearby, he can hear everything.”
“Rambo is doing a fantastic job!” “Wonderful doggo.”
It’s a sobering reminder that in the midst of this conflict, there are ordinary people tasked with defending their country, the kind of people who will still take the time to care for a cute dog.
The love of a dog can be very powerful, and hopefully Rambo will give these soldiers a morale boost to help them get through this difficult time.
“I’m sure any relief is welcome in that kind of emotionally charged situation,” one Reddit comment reads after the video went viral. “A puppy is a wonderful thing. I sincerely hope no one is injured.”
“I sincerely hope that he and the soldiers he protects never have to work,” one person wrote.
We’re hoping for peace in Ukraine, and that this sweet dog survives the conflict unscathed — and that he continues to guard his new friends.
