Andrés, a 12-year-old Mexican boy, was heartbroken when he was forced to leave his adorable puppy at the door of Mexican rescue group Refugio Xollin in hopes of finding shelter there.
The shelter found a pit bull puppy in a box with a note and a stuffed toy. The note said he gave the dog to the shelter because his dad was going to sell it and beat it all the time! So the boy just wanted to protect his dog and left it at the shelter door.
The story was shared on Facebook, with many praising the boy and even offering to help.
The shelter, which the dog named Rene with the parasite, suffered a minor fracture to its tail. Fortunately, the shelter staff ensured that René received the best possible treatment and care.
Hundreds of people applied for adoption after seeing Rene’s story on Facebook, which means he will soon be home forever. Thanks to Andres for his heroic deeds!
