Charlie the Pit Bull would have died in a pile of garbage if he hadn’t been discovered by a Good Samaritan. Charlie was lying in the trash, covered in flies, dirt, and head wounds.
Nikki was mentioned in a Facebook post about a dog that had been dumped in the trash near a recreation center. Nikki, a long-time vet tech, could tell he was dying just by looking at him. When she approached Charlie to untangle the string that was tying him to a pole, he was motionless. It was a miracle that he could even lift his head.
Nikki and a friend helped him to the car and rushed him to Philadelphia Animal Hospital, where his condition has remained “touch-and-go” since then. However, the 2-year-old Pit bull has a large group of supporters who are rallying to assist him in his recovery.
“When innocent animals are treated in this manner, it is a terrible tragedy, and we recognize that this is not an isolated incident,” the hospital continued. “Charlie is a wonderful dog who is in good health.” The veterinarians are “taking every precaution to ensure he recovers.”
“Every measure” is being taken by the veterinarians to ensure that he recovers.
The Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ humane law-enforcement unit is also looking into who is responsible for Charlie’s mistreatment.
“While not our typical rescue,” City of Elderly Love wrote on Facebook, “Charlie’s wonderful finders sure brought him to the right place.” “Philadelphia Animal Hospital will care for and treat him for free, and we’ll handle his post-recovery care as their exclusive rescue partner.” We have high hopes that Philly’s incredible Humane Law Enforcement team will be able to apprehend Charlie’s tormentors.”
Although doctors are still concerned that Charlie’s wounds will cause him to develop sepsis, it has been a few days since his rescue, and there are some signs that he is recovering.
“There is no set timeline for his recovery, and we’ll have to take it day by day,” the rescue group said. “But Charlie is strong, and the worst is behind him.” “He’ll have surgery tomorrow to remove more dead tissue from his face. He’ll need a series of procedures to recover fully, but he’s in better shape than he’s been in a long time.”
While he recovers, his rescuers are making sure he gets plenty of rest and cuddles.
“It will be just one of a series of surgeries he will require,” the animal hospital added, “but it is a step in the right direction.” He’s eating well and appears to be much more at ease than before!”
Thank God for people like Nikki, as well as the rescuers and doctors who are working to save Charlie’s life and ensure his bright future.
