The life of many animals is not easy. Although there is a large group that enjoys having a family that loves and protects them, there are several that must put up with abusive owners, who force them to be part of a history full of violence.
Paws 4 Hope found Joao. “It will be a long way before she fully recovers and we will do everything we can to give her this second chance at a better life,” she said.
This tiny pup, now named Joao, had spent his entire life as a victim of extreme cruelty. He was malnourished, ignored, unloved, and forgotten.
As he wobbled around, trying to fend for himself, every rib and bone protruded from his pint-sized body.
When staff at the shelter discovered him, they knew they had to take him in, regardless of whether they had the space. Thankfully, they did, and they immediately began treating him.
Joao was severely malnourished, anemic, his mouth was bruised, his body was covered in wounds, and he had diarrhea and vomiting on a regular basis.
He began to eat food on his own as they continued to treat him, which was a good sign that he was fighting.
The little pup continued to fight and prove everyone wrong after receiving round-the-clock care from the vets.
“He is still very weak and just wants to lie down. It will be a long way before he fully recovers and we will do everything we can to give him this second chance at a better life.”
