One dog’s heartbreaking story has finally reached a happy ending: a dog who bit his own leg in a neglected home environment is rescued and given a loving forever new home.
The dog, named Bella, was tied to the back of her Saginaw, Michigan home with two steel cables by her owner, according to the Best Friends Animal Society.
The poor dog was left alone and neglected, with no shelter or food: she ran out of water and her food was out of reach. Bella can’t move because of the cable. Weeks passed and Bella was completely ignored by her owner.
Eventually, a concerned person heard Bella’s screams and intervened, only to find a grim sight: The dog was malnourished and dehydrated, and unfortunately, in order to get out of it, it bit her back. leg.
“It was heartbreaking and unbelievable to walk into the backyard and see Bella in so much pain that day,” recalls Desiri, the Saginaw County animal care and inspection officer.
The veterinarian looked after Bella, and Best Friends said the poor neglected dog remained positive despite it all wagging his tail.
Bella’s owner was eventually found and charges were filed. But more importantly, Bella was safe: the owner handed over custody to the shelter, and Bella began to look forward to a new, better life. She also adjusts well to the three-legged life.
After working at the Saginaw County Animal Care and Control Center, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary received a request for Bella to provide her with the care she needed. While her transportation from Michigan to Utah was no easy task, Bella’s story won the hearts of many of the supporters who sponsored the trip.
According to the press release, Desiree and her colleague Abbe Balderstone proposed to join the three-day trip, which was due to depart in January. “She’s the best travel companion,” Desiree said of Bella.
Bella is greeted warmly by her best friend and adjusts quickly to her new environment. “After what Bella was going through, she really showed the dog’s resilience and made her feel comfortable,” said Shelter Director Ali Wazmer.
Thankfully, Bella’s story now has a happier ending.
According to People magazine, Kim Diehl and Jason Reding of Rockport, Illinois, visited Best Friends in February to adopt a new dog following the death of their older rescue bulldog.
As soon as they saw Bella, they knew she was the one.
Bella just has an irresistible face. It was love at first sight,” Kim said, according to People magazine. “We took them to the cabin on the scene for a week. She is energetic and lively. We love her more. “
After hitting it off, the couple adopted Bella forever and drove her to their new home. Bella has reportedly settled down and is now living a good life.
“Her back story is very sad, and it’s too bad that she had to go through that, but we intend to make up for all of that,” Kim said. “We intend to spoil her rotten.”
While this began as a very sad story, so many people came through for Bella and now she has a perfect new home, and will finally get all the love and care she deserves!
