Fortunately for one journalist, his attacker’s weapon malfunctioned, and he was saved before being shot! Cordero Garca, the 47-year-old director general of the online news site CGNoticias, said he was told he would be killed like a dog!
Thankfully, he was saved by a miracle when the bullet from his assailant’s gun fell out! Fortunately, the attacker was apprehended after a large crowd gathered to assist the journalist by holding him until the National Guard arrived!
In the event of an emergency, the journalist was given a panic button and enrolled in the “mechanism,” a federal program designed to protect journalists. The state prosecutor’s office in Quintana Roo has also launched an investigation.
