Heartwarming moment builders use their digger to rescue dog from drowning in an irrigation channel in Ecuador.
Builders near an irrigation channel in Pasaje Canton received a radio alert that a dog was being carried down the fast-moving water and was drowning.
As soon as the dog appears, the other builders begin shouting, desperately trying to keep her head above the filthy water and floating debris.
When Mr Murillo calls out to the dog, she is carried in the digger scoop towards him.
Before he can haul her up into the scoop, he manages to get a firm grip on the loose skin of her back, and the terrified animal bites him.
Before the soggy dog gets out, dazed but apparently unharmed, Mr Murillo’s colleagues lift them both back onto dry land.
The builders stated that they held a collection and raised funds to transport the dog to the vet, where he was treated for inflammation and infection.
Mr Murillo said the builders were alerted that the dog had been swept away when the water channel was opened when recounting the daring rescue in a radio interview.
‘We decided to get down with a bucket and rescue the dog, as seen in the video,’ he continued.
Cristian, another builder in the video, said the dog appeared exhausted as it battled the water.
‘Thank God we were able to catch it, we could give the animal another chance to live,’ their colleague Luis, who is seen climbing onto the pipe in the video, said the three of them were determined to rescue the dog.
‘The dog was almost about to let go because the force of the water caused the dog to hit the bucket and want to go under it,’ Mr Murillo continued. Then I grabbed the dog, and it bit me, but only lightly.’
We might still be able to get it out. It was in poor shape. We collected it and took it to the vet, who administered some injections.’ The dog was around here just a few moments ago, but I think it’s gone now.’
