When we are given a little bit of love, even we humans can change. Adopting an animal can improve the lives of two people. The animal’s and your own lives are included in these two lives. The pet will now have a place to call his or her own. They’ll be safe and sound, with someone they can call family by their side. Their human will have someone who will love them unconditionally for the rest of their lives. As a result, it’s a win-win scenario. What more could you possibly want? Adoption, on the other hand, is not a simple procedure.
Some animals are fearful of leaving the shelter and venturing into unfamiliar territory. When they first arrive at their new home, they may be scared or uneasy. They may also be anti-social. It takes time for these pets to come out of their shells, but the wait will be totally worth it when they do.
This is the beautiful story of Heaven, a former shelter dog.
Jackie Rakers of the Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter adopted Heaven. Heaven and Jackie had taken a big step forward. Heaven, on the other hand, was a shy dog who was terrified of almost everything. So Jackie had to come up with a way to restore Heaven’s self-assurance.
They began going to Home Depot at that time.
In an interview with The Dodo, Rakers said, “The Home Depot runs started as a way to help her with her fears.” “She was afraid of new places and sounds, so we’d go for five minutes and she’d get all the treats,” she explained.
As a result, their trips to Home Depot grew in length, and Heaven was exposed to new experiences.
The Home Depot is a dog-friendly establishment.
As a result, Heaven felt very at ease there. Heaven began interacting with the staff and visitors more frequently. She soon earned her own apron after a few visits!
Every time Jackie pulls out the apron, she knows she’s going to Home Depot.
Rakers explained, “I keep it in the car so we’re always ready.” “As soon as she realizes we’ve arrived in the parking lot, she quivers and waits for me to put [the apron] on her before sprinting off to ‘work.'” She struts around the place as if she owns it.”
Now there’s a special new employee at Home Depot!
Heaven is well-known throughout the store. All the staff members call her by her name, and she is even allowed inside the staff break room. It has become somewhat of a second home for her.
She also has a fun time with the customers there.
Rakers said, “She walks around minding her own business and then insists on meeting someone.” “All she does is sit and stare.” They’ll always say how much they needed that pick-me-up.”
You’d think Heaven can sense when someone is having a bad day so she can go over and cheer them up. And Home Depot is the best place for her to find humans to love.
With these little adventure trips to Home Depot, Heaven has regained her confidence.
“She was terrified of everything,” Rakers said, “but with a lot of training and patience, she learned to trust, and now it’s like she pays it forward.”
“She finds who needs her and gives them that smile and a cuddle.”
Jackie is always up to something regarding her home, so they make frequent trips to Home Depot, which is also a relief for Heaven.
Just look at how happy she is now!
