Chewie the Yorkie was discarded like trash in Santa Ana Park in Orange County, California. Despite the fact that both of his front legs were completely fractured, the tiny dog smiled at strangers, hoping that someone would help him. After days of suffering, he was finally rescued by the staff at OC Animal Care.
An X-ray at the hospital revealed that Chewie’s broken legs had begun to heal in a twisted position. This meant that the poor baby had been injured for several weeks but his owner had never taken him to the vet. It’s possible that the owner broke Chewie’s legs and then abandoned him.
Chewie’s legs were repaired after a difficult surgery by the vet. The recovery from surgery was undoubtedly difficult, but the frail boy proved to be a true trooper! He had complete faith in his diligent caregivers, and by the next week, he was happily frolicking in the grass, even with his cast still on!
Chewie was adopted soon after he recovered completely! His new boy, Cheryl, is madly in love with him, as are his human and canine siblings. Way to go, sweetheart! Chewie’s innocent smiles and bright spirit have certainly charmed his way into our hearts!
