Bethany Coleman and her boyfriend already had two senior cats and a young rescue dog named Rogue in their home. Even though they wanted a new dog, they were hesitant to get one.
They were going to rent an apartment and assumed that no one would rent to two people, two cats, and two dogs. Coleman and Rogue were walking through the local farmer’s market one day when they noticed something.
It wasn’t the fresh produce that drew her attention, but rather a dog that resembled Rogue. Coleman knew it was fate that brought them together, so they named their 8-month-old puppy Beast.
“Rogue and I had love at first sight with him,” Coleman told The Dodo. “He looked just like Rogue, same size (at that time), same coat … they are both cairn [terrier] mixes. We get asked all the time if they’re brother and sister.”
Despite being used to being the only dog in the family, Rogue treated Beast as if he were his twin separated at birth.
“We’d get Beast and Rogue the same exact toys at first but she would only want whatever Beast had and would always take it from him,” Coleman told The Dodo.
“Beast is the big baby and my cuddlebug who competes with the cats for lap space,” Coleman added.
They now all live in Hawaii, and they have formed a bond that nothing in the world can ever break.
“Our adventure across the country together proved this little family will always be together,” Coleman said.
