When people spotted a starving dog on a Spanish mountain, they called Tenerife Horse Rescue to investigate.
Rescuers discovered not one, but four dogs! The terrified mama dog bolted, leaving her three puppies behind.

Fortunately, this allowed the rescuers to scoop up the puppies and transport them to safety. They had to start looking for the mama dog and make sure she was okay.
After some searching, rescuers discovered the dog in “extreme panic” clinging to a tiny ledge. She was extremely thin, and it was obvious that she had given everything she had to her puppies.

She was so terrified that rescuers weren’t sure if she’d ever been in contact with humans.
They were successful in capturing her with a towel and bringing her back to their rescue to begin the process of gaining her trust. It would be difficult, but they were determined to give her the best life possible.
The mama dog was named Foxi by rescuers, who quickly discovered she was highly motivated by food. Foxi gradually learned to trust people and come out of her shell with a lot of time, food, and patience.
They decided to keep her as the rescue’s dog because she’d been through so much and rescuers had worked so hard to build her confidence. At the rescue, she’ll be safe, loved, and cared for!
