Dog Rescue Shelter in Mladenovac, Serbia, received a call regarding a mama dog and two puppies who had been abandoned outside and were lying there on the side of the road for a few days.
The Good Samaritans attempted to feed them, but the mama dog was fiercely protective of her pups and refused to let them near them.
She was hiding in the grass beside the road with her babies when rescuers arrived, trying to protect them while she waited for her owners to return for her.
But sadly, they never would.
Fortunately, she was aware that the rescuers were there to assist her, so she remained friendly and willing to eat whatever food they offered her.
They returned to the grass one last time after loading mama dog and her two puppies into their car to ensure there were no other puppies left behind.
They were surprised to find another one in the grass just a few feet from where the mama was. The puppies had only been a few days old and had not yet opened their eyes.
Fortunately, they were rescued just in time, and the four of them were returned to their rescue.
Moli, the mama, has been an excellent mother to her puppies. She is relieved and grateful to be in good hands and to have a warm bed to sleep in instead of being stranded on the side of the road.
The shelter will look after the little family until they are ready to be adopted.
