Animal Aid Unlimited rescued a stray dog found in the middle of the road. When they found the dog, it was in critical condition, barely able to lift its head off the ground. It was infested with maggots over his right ear. The skin was almost completely gone, leaving it weak and in pain. The stray dog was unable to move, eat, or drink.
He would have died in the same spot if the Rajasthan-based charity Animal Aid Unlimited had not rescued him when they did.
“We found him lying in anguish on the side of the street, gravely wounded and broken,” Aid Unlimited said. Maggots were eating the side of his head, and his body had given up all hope. When we approached, he struggled to lift his head but quickly collapsed from exhaustion.
Major Sahib is now unrecognizable in the video below, which depicts his horrific ordeal and subsequent recovery after successful treatment and months of rehabilitation.
Major Sahib can be seen trembling in fear and pain on the road in the video before the rescue team scooped him up in a blanket and placed him in their ambulance.
Following several months of treatment
In honor of his incredible bravery, Animal Aid Unlimited named this handsome fella “Major Sahib.”
‘He was wounded and broken, but he still had a lot of life to live.’
And Major Sahib is doing just that, soaking up attention from the Animal Aid Unlimited team and enjoying himself in the safety of its sanctuary.
