Flies had already begun to swarm around puppy Oliver’s body as he lay on the ground, close to death. However, after being rescued by an Indian charity, the pet was brought back to health just two months later.
After receiving a call that a dead dog had been discovered, Animal Aid Unlimited in India discovered Oliver laying beneath a car with flies all over his body.
When they got close to the puppy, they realized he was still alive, albeit struggling to breathe.
A rescuer then managed to lift the dog from the ground and wrap him in a blanket before transporting him to emergency medical care.
His body was discovered to be dangerously cold, and he needed to be hydrated with hot water bottles and IV fluids.
Oliver eventually opened his eyes, but it was questionable whether he would survive because he needed assistance just to stand on his four legs.
He was then diagnosed with a severe respiratory infection that required antibiotic treatment.
Oliver was soon back on his feet, running around his enclosure and playing with his carers, after two months of treatment and care from the charity’s staff.
Animal Aid Unlimited then posted a video on their Facebook page charting the dog’s progress from near death to his current condition.
‘This gentle little spirit amazed us,’ wrote the charity.
‘After being diagnosed with a respiratory infection, Oliver fought for his life for two months.
‘But then he beat the odds… just look at this wonderful boy who came back from the dead.’
