Meet Duke, the sad doggie who was discovered sitting on a curbside in south Texas in an old armchair, waiting for someone to come and rescue him. People ignored the homeless dog for a few days until one woman posted a picture of him on Facebook and asked for help.
“Can anyone help?” the individual stated on Facebook. “My mother said he’d been hanging around here for a while.”
He has such bad mange that he looks bloody. He’s also quite thin.”
Leslie Ysuhuaylas, a Rescue Dogs Rock NYC volunteer from Texas, saw the post and stepped in, sending a volunteer to pick up the doggie right away.
“He was terrified, and he didn’t trust anyone,” Ysuhuaylas told The Dodo. “He was cautious.”
As soon as the rescuer loaded Duke into the car, she rushed him to the vet clinic, where they discovered his teeth had been filed down. This indicates that he was most likely a bait dog, a dog cruelly used as a “practice target” in dog fights.
We can only imagine what Duke the poor pooch has been through, but his future looks bright now that he’s in good hands. The doggie will be ready for adoption once his treatments at the vet clinic are completed. Good luck, sweetie!
