A dog named Powder was dumped in the middle of the Florida Everglades by his heartless owners.
The dog had no idea what to do with a desert swamp. He was starving for days, and the harsh environment caused him several infections.
The poor dog realized that no one was ever going to find him, so he found a lone spot and waited to die.
That’s when a visiting couple spotted the scared and confused Powder and reached out to him. They called the cops at Broward Sheriff’s Office and assured the weakened dog that he would be getting help soon. But when the cops arrived, they realized that Powder was too sick to even stand.
The cops consoled Powder, gave him food and water, and eventually gained his trust. He was then led to the car.
They contacted Dezzy’s Second Chance Animal Rescue and turned over the dog for emergency care. However, Powder’s medical examination revealed that the dog would not last long in the swamp.
Internal infections caused by the severe, bleeding plague were found in the dust.
He needed eye surgery, but the veterinarian postponed it until his infections cleared up. There is still a long way to go before he is fully recovered, but he is now in good hands.
Although Powder’s owner might never be found, it haunts us to think that the person intentionally left a dog to die in the wilderness.
We hope Powder recovers quickly and finds an eternal home with a responsible family who will never find him. Keep your cool, good boy.
