Having a paralyzed dog or cat is not easy for every pet owner by their special needs. This is why disabled pets are frequently abandoned by their owners.
Lunita was a beautiful little dog but sadly, she was disabled and dumped on the streets of Salta, Argentina. Fortunately, one of the dog-grooming employees noticed Lunita and felt sorry for her, so she contacted the rescue organization LUBA Salta. Soon, two volunteers rushed over to check out Lunita’s condition and pick up her.
She was found when lying face down on the sidewalk and was tied to a rail near a dog grooming salon. Her back legs were attached to an old wheelchair. A bag of diapers and a note with her name, age, and an explanation were beside her. Her previous owners stated that they were unable to keep her and did not leave her any food or water.
They brought her to a shelter and then she was placed in a foster home. Volunteers shared her information on Facebook in the hopes of finding her a family. Finally, a family from the United States contacted the organization and offered to give Lunita a forever home.
Unfortunately for Lunita, things did not go well in her new home. The family didn’t know how to properly care for a disabled dog and ended up neglecting her, resulting in Lunita developing a severe staphylococcal infection.
It took serious effort and medical attention to help her treat all the ailments. Following that, another American family stepped in and adopted Lunita.
She became one of the happiest dogs we’ve ever seen, thanks to her new family and good health. She could play with her canine sibling, run around with a custom-built wheelchair, visit parks, play in the snow, and even attend birthday parties.
Unfortunately, only a month after celebrating her 11th anniversary, she got sick and had to be admitted to ICU at University Medical Hospital, where she once again fought for her life and passed away surrounded by her loved ones.
Lunita’s mother wrote on Facebook, “I will never forget her and how much she meant to me.” “She forever altered my life. “I loved her.”
Lunita’s story came to an end and is an amazing example of perseverance. But one thing is certain: Lunita’s final year was the best of her life. Share this story with your friends and ask them to pray for this wonderful dog! Lunita, rest in peace!
